Undrilled humerus nailing by Jochen Blum
After the influence of undrilled nailing for the femur and tibia, it seemed logical and consistent to apply this biologically and pathophysiologically advantageous principle to the humeral shaft as well. The principle of nailing was not unknown in the humerus shaft until now, but did not find the widespread approval that can now be observed in the femur and tibia. 1m On the contrary - both the indication for surgery and the choice of surgical procedure are still the subject of lively and controversial discussion today. The demand for biological osteosynthesis, especially for surgical approaches that are far removed from fractures and techniques that spare soft tissue, makes the various intramedullary procedures for the humeral shaft more attractive in terms of attractiveness. On the other hand, the criticism of their stability, especially rotational stability, should not be trivialized, especially in comparison to plate osteosynthesis. The development of a new intramedullary nail system for the humeral shaft fracture, the undrilled humeral nail (UHN), with static locking options, promises to address this criticism. The purpose of this study is to answer the questions that arise, especially for the clinician, regarding the stiffness of the intramedullary nail system in the bone, i. e. its stabilizing potential in the case of a humeral shaft fracture. In addition to the core biomechanical studies, initial results in the handling of this new intramedullary nail system and the complications of the first insertions of the nail in everyday surgery are presented. A critical discussion should in particular work out the range of indications of the nail from the point of view of clinical and biomechanical experience and its illumination in the context of current scientific literature. This manuscript corresponds fundamentally to the habilitation thesis of the first author, which was submitted to the Medical Faculty of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 1998.| ISBN 13 | 9783540670957 |

"I was paying $11.99/month for Kindle Unlimited but realized I was renting books, not owning them. Bought this PDF and it's mine forever. Never going back to Kindle."
"Switched from Kindle to these PDFs. Same book, but I actually OWN it now. No monthly fees, no app required. Worth every penny."
"Kindle Unlimited kept raising prices. This is a one-time purchase and the file is permanently on my iPad. Best decision I've made for my reading habit."
"I compared Kindle vs this store. Kindle is cheaper monthly but you don't own anything. Here I paid once and the PDF is mine for life. Highly recommend."
"Left Kindle behind after they removed a book I was reading mid-series. With this PDF, nobody can take it away from me. True ownership feels good."
"Was skeptical about paying $18.95 when Kindle shows $3.99, but then I did the math — Kindle Unlimited is $143/year! This is way better value long term."
"Love that I can read this on any device without installing the Kindle app. The PDF works on my laptop, phone, and tablet seamlessly. So much freedom."
"My Kindle subscription was getting expensive. Switched to buying PDFs here and I'm saving money while actually building a permanent digital library I control."
