The guide is written from practice for practice. He wants to arouse interest in the new treatment methods of schizophrenia and be the first advisor to those who want to familiarize themselves with these difficult problems. Theoretical questions were allowed to be ignored. This was discussed in more detail in the first part of the book on organizational matters; After all, a well-organized insulin station is a prerequisite for systematic work. - The second part of the book deals with methodological questions, especially with insulin shock treatment according to SAKEL. The cardiazole spasm according to v. MEDUNA was discussed exclusively in the context of insulin shock treatment. In the presentation, special emphasis was placed on Kiirze, clear structure of the material and clear definition. SAREL's methodological modifications for the treatment of the various subtypes of schizophrenia were taken into account. Own methodological innovations such as the zigzag method and the reduction of doses through active sensitization were presented in detail because of their practical significance. The same applies to the sensitization test, which, when used properly, may be called upon to reduce the risk of insulin shock treatment 80 so that it becomes a safe and generally feasible therapeutic method in the hands of the trained person. - Fundamental objections to the new treatment methods, which are still controversial today, were briefly discussed in the conclusion.
