The present book clearly shows how much the task of physiotherapy has expanded in recent years. With the abandonment of birth preparation, physiotherapy has left the field of work that gave it its name. Physiotherapy is no longer suitable for the sick or gymnastics as part of nutritional therapy. This expansion of tasks was carried out by durehaus saehlogisch. From physiotherapeutic aftercare for patients in surgery and orthopaedics, it was a natural step towards risk training gymnastics in the cot. And when more and more birth methods were rediscovered in which the AktiviHit of the Sehwangers was again promoted, such an AktiviHit had to be expertly guided. This task was largely taken over by birth preparers; they are relaxation exercises according to a wide variety of methods (e.g. Read, Lamaze), breathing exercises in conjunction with degenerative gymnastics programs, which ensure optimal and individual birth preparation for the Sehwanger. The careful, detailed and understandable presentation of these exercises distinguishes the present book; but it never stops there. Rather, it is taken seriously with the realization that the exercises for birth preparation can only be properly instructed if the birth preparation person has a solid knowledge of the anatomical and physiological basics. The delightful chapters are comprehensible and at the same time presented in great detail. Due to the precise and well-founded examination of the preparation for childbirth, the present work can also be recommended for further medical training.
