The book is based on a joint work of 20 women's clinics, children's clinics and various medical institutes spanning more than a decade, in which - made possible by the funding of the German Research Foundation - a pool of individual findings on pregnant women and their children was collected. The above publication is a summary of 7870 singleton pregnancies between 1964 and 1970 and the children resulting from them. On the one hand, it forms the numerical background to the preliminary report published in 1977 by the German 1 Research Foundation as a research report, which was based on the evaluation status of May 1976.
