Research on Biological Psychiatry by A Hopf
This volume contains lectures given at the Second Congress of the German Society for Biological Psychiatry in DΓΌsseldorf in September 1982 and partly revised for this publication. Part I presents new experimental approaches and results of schizophrenia research. An attempt is made to connect the hemisphere asymmetries, deviations in information processing and psychovegetative disorders found in schizophrenics to the clinic. Part II presents the significance of diagnostic criteria for biological-psychiatric investigations from different perspectives. One goal of this symposium, the standardization and operationalization of psychiatric diagnostics, will be pursued by a commission of the German Society for Biological Psychiatry. Parts III and IV contain contributions on biochemistry, endocrinology, morphology and psychopharmacology, especially endogenous psychoses. Part V is devoted to purely clinical questions, such as the diagnosis of so-called basic disorders, the relationship between periods of illness and mental illness and the hyperkinetic syndrome in childhood.
