Neuropsychology of Schizophrenia by Tilo Kircher
Schizophrenia has a lifetime prevalence of 1% worldwide - this seems little at first glance, but is relativized by comparative figures of other - apparently very common - diseases. In about one third of those affected, schizophrenia leads to a permanent disability with serious limitations in the psychosocial area. These disabilities correlate with the degree of cognitive impairment. Cognitive psychological models and imaging techniques were used to identify both the psychopathological symptoms and their neuronal correlates.
