Local tissue burning by B Helpap
The use of the electric scalpel is routine in surgical practice. The procedure leads to a focal tissue burn, but there are hardly any systematic morphological studies on its repair. In particular, it has not yet been examined whether there is a connection between thermosurgical tissue damage and detectable, post-operative inflammation with ulcers, fistulas and suture hipositories. The present monograph has therefore attempted to show the consequences of thermosurgical interventions with regard to pathological anatomy and immunology. The findings were collected on tissue samples from all regions of the human organism and through animal experiments. The analysis has revealed parallels to the pathology of extensive tissue burning. Although the focal thermal damage is kept under control by the organism, it often leads to unnoticed or little-noticed disorders of postoperative wound healing, which are not least due to temporary disorders of the immune response. Since modern surgery with its complicated use; Since the field cannot do without techniques such as electrosurgery, laser surgery or cryosurgery, it is necessary to point out the iatrogenic reactions in the organism caused by these methods. The consequences should be taken into account especially when using thermo-electrosurgical methods in order to be able to correctly interpret possible disturbances in the postoperative wound healing process. The experimental investigations, especially the cell kinetic analyses, have been generously funded by the German Research Foundation (Research Project: Wound Healing He 537). I would like to thank Mrs. Inge Heim for her excellent histological-autoradiographic assistance and for making the drawings. I would like to thank the Springer publishing house for the longing and problem-free printing.| ISBN 13 | 9783540118916 |
