We have enough extensive introductions to the exact theory of heredity. A handy book, however, which selects from the enormous factual material of this new science, avoiding all the more complicated details, only that which is important for the physician, and which, on the other hand, also deals in more detail with the problems of constitutional and dispositional pathology, which are of particular interest to physicians, has been lacking until now; so far, there has been no textbook del' Constitution and Vererby, pgspathologie. The present work, which has made it possible to take into account the needs of the inquiring physician everywhere, may have carried out this study. The results of Mendelist research on heredity are hidden behind a barbed wire of terminologies that are difficult to understand for anyone who wants to learn. I have therefore used in my presentation that mode of expression which has been preserved didactically in my Foundations of Racial Hygiene and has already found several successions. May the book VOl' aHem inspire a large number of colleagues to make reliable observations of heredity in man and to work on them scientifically.
