Indication for surgical fracture treatment by F Eitel
Incorrect results in surgical fracture treatment occur according to experience:. to a considerable tell due to indication errors. The present study aims to narrow down this problem and make it more transparent, because empirical-clinical data, mostly of a retrospective nature, are obviously not sufficient to establish indications in all cases. The question is whether prospective or prognostic criteria can be developed, because such a theoretically based concept would be easier to discuss than purely empirical data and would be easier to understand in any place at any time. The basic idea of the present work is to indicate from an operational point of view as a decision procedure:. which sees the clinical situation in its entirety and accordingly covers very different dimensions such as clinical empiricism, pathophysiology, hospital organization and, on the margins, ethical questions. But the intention cannot be to create an exhausting and invariant Abrit:. indication in the manner of cooking recipes, - this is not possible for reasons of scientific theory, since in clinical practice no situation is completely alike to the other, whereby the striving for completeness becomes a Sisyphean task that goes uncontrolled. Rather, the attempt is made to bring the interdisciplinary problem: indication into the discussion from the perspective of a treatment design that can be analysed in terms of system theory. It is intended to pick out essential aspects of the term indication that could be used to design a treatment plan in practical individual cases. In the preparation of the present results, I received support from many sides, my thanks go to Mrs. G. Bach, Prof. K. H. Booz, Mrs. T. Felsing, Mr. Prof. V.
