General Neck Surgery by V Schlosser
Since the 2nd edition of the volume of this surgical theory, published in 1953, 27 years have passed. Years in which surgery has not stood still. The increase in knowledge and the expansion of operational possibilities is expressed not least in the division of the 5th volume into four individual volumes. Part 3, the oto-rhino-iaryngological operations in the mouth and throat area by H.J. Denecke was published at the end of last year. The present part 4 complements this book and continues the earlier contribution by N. Guleke with a new treatment of general surgical interventions on the neck. In addition to the standard operations, we have also included less common procedures (lymphovenous anastomosis, removal of the glomus caroticum) for the interested reader. We considered the introductory chapter on the surgical anatomy of the neck to be particularly important as the basis for successful surgical therapy. Where it seemed necessary, the clinic and pathophysiology of the diseases were presented in due brevity. I would like to thank Professors V. Schlosser (Surgery on the Blood Vessels) and W. Wolfart (Media Stioscopy) for their cooperation. We were able to reuse some of the award-winning illustrations from the last edition. Much of this has to be redesigned, for which we are indebted to the signers, the late Hans Brandt and Albert Gattung.
