Current Obstetrics and Gynecology by Frank Melchert
Angiogenesis is the process of formation of new blood capillaries. Angiogenesis takes place both during embryonic development and post-embryonic in the context of many physiological and pathological situations. Tumor growth depends on angiogenesis. In the physiology of the female reproductive organs, the continuous formation of new blood cells plays a special role. The cell-biological mechanism of angiogenesis seems to follow a largely uniform principle, regardless of location and stimulus. Certain signaling substances trigger angiogenesis. They are called angiogenesis factors or mediators. The angiogenesis factor monocytoangiotropin (MA T), which is derived from activated monocytes (macrophages), leads to vascular formation in vivo in all tissues and species studied, even in picogram quantities. Cloned capillary endothelial cells are stimulated to migrate by MA T and form capillary-like structures in vitro under the influence of this monokine. Hypervascularization induced by intradermal injection of MA T could be used therapeutically in an autotransplantation model in the rabbit skin to prevent mixed necrosis in the transplanted skin flap. Due to their mode of action, angiogenesis mediators and inhibitors can be expected to be widely used in almost all clinical disciplines. For gynecological diagnostics, the recording of new vascular formation processes as a prneoplastic marker seems to be interesting. In the context of obstetric diagnostics, vascularization disorders of the placenta could be detected at an early stage by determining angiogenesis factors. Such placent avascular disorders, which can lead to severe perinatal complications, may be treated by appropriate administration of certain angiogenesis factors. By applying angiogenesis factors locally into the endometrium, a hypervascularized zone with better implantation conditions for an in vitro fertilized egg cell could be created.| ISBN 13 | 9783642710919 |

"My Kindle subscription was getting expensive. Switched to buying PDFs here and I'm saving money while actually building a permanent digital library I control."
