These investigations were all essentially aimed at observing the effects of beryllium and its compounds in the organism in order to determine the pathogenesis of beryllium diseases in humans and to be able to say something about the danger of this element for humans. For this reason, the following remarks describe more industrial hygiene and toxicological problems than pharmacological ones. The entire relevant literature was inspected and used in the work until the summer-autumn of 1964. The bibliography has been divided into 3 parts: A. Literature on experimental work (chapters 1-12) B. Diseases in humans (chapter 13) C.
