The present publication deals with audiological problems without the knowledge of which the medical expert who is supposed to give a medical assessment is not in a position to do justice to his task. According to the continuing education regulations, every ENT doctor should be able to submit expert opinions - i.e. also noise reports. In recent years, however, it has become increasingly clear that quite a few doctors are granted specialist recognition, but their knowledge in the audiological field is hardly sufficient for practice, let alone for the preparation of expert opinions. For example, there is a danger that audiology is no longer becoming more and more, as one might expect, but is becoming less and less part of the ENT doctor's established knowledge. How else could it be explained, since of 4500 reports on suspicion of noise severity according to the Occupational Disease Ordinance, only about 5% actually concerned a noise severity? At this point, therefore, the principles that must be observed when reporting suspected noise pollution should be recalled. A report on suspicion of noise impairment as an occupational disease is only to be submitted if, in the case of an inner ear impairment in which there is an indicative suspicion of noise impairment according to the audiological examination results and the history (noise exposure), the hearing loss in the tone threshold audiogram at 2000 Hz is more than 40 dB. If a patient already has a so-called support MdE, i.e. a MdE of at least 10% due to an accident or medical condition, the report must also be made on suspicion of an occupational disease if the hearing loss at 3000 Hz is more than 40 dB.| ISBN 13 | 9783540109105 |
