Antibiotic Prophylaxis in Traumatology by Dieter Stolle
Even today - more than 30 years after antibiotics were introduced into the treatment of bacterial infections - the prophylactic use of antibiotics continues to be discussed controversially and with a lot of emotional commitment. Opinions, concerns and objections from a microbiological point of view are countered by more or less convincing results of clinical (retrospective and prospective) studies. Depending on the attitude of the examiner and the experimental conditions chosen by him, they can be used as arguments for or against antibiotic prophylaxis. In many cases, it is extremely difficult or even impossible for the surgeon to assess the digniticity of such publications with regard to their microbiological parameters, and conversely, the microbiologist is usually not in a position to recognize and evaluate the surgical and clinical relevance of such studies. It therefore seemed interesting and informative to sift through and evaluate the extensive literature that has been dealing with antibiotic prophylaxis in trauma medicine since 1960 in the joint work of surgeons and microbiologists. Initially, only clinical-casuistic reports were taken into account, while animal studies were deliberately dispensed with - especially in the recognition of the inherence of antibiotic prophylaxis also on economic interests and the manipulability of animal experiments in particular, which is possible within a wide range. The result of this interdisciplinary literature review is now available and will hopefully contribute to objectifying the often passionate discussion on the complex topic of antibiotic prophylaxis in traumatology. 1m December 1979 K. "Kindle Unlimited kept raising prices. This is a one-time purchase and the file is permanently on my iPad. Best decision I've made for my reading habit."
"I compared Kindle vs this store. Kindle is cheaper monthly but you don't own anything. Here I paid once and the PDF is mine for life. Highly recommend."
"Left Kindle behind after they removed a book I was reading mid-series. With this PDF, nobody can take it away from me. True ownership feels good."
"Was skeptical about paying $18.95 when Kindle shows $3.99, but then I did the math — Kindle Unlimited is $143/year! This is way better value long term."
